VMware announces public beta of vCenter Multi-Hypervisor Manager version 1.1
In November last year, VMware released version 1.0 of its vCenter Multi-Hypervisor Manager, an optional module which is capable of managing the Microsoft Hyper-V hypervisor from vCenter. Now VMware has announced a public beta for a new version 1.1 of the Multi-Hypervisor Manager, which will support Microsofts latest hypervisor as part of Windows Server 2012, Hyper-V 3.0.

In January this year, we reported about the extensive community work of Andreas Groth comparing the virtualization features of different virtualization platform vendors. The Virtualization Matrix received an update this week, now including Red Hat’s KVM solution in the comparison. Andreas also updated Citrix to version 6.1 with data from CloudPlatform and updated VMware with its latest Horizon Suite announcement.

NComputing announces availability of enhancements to vSpace Virtualization Platform
Today, March 14, NComputing, a desktop virtualization company that manufactures hardware and software for the VDI market, announced the general availability of “strategic” enhancements to its vSpace Desktop and Application Virtualization Platform, announced last december.
Paper: State of the VDI and SBC union 2013
In October last year, virtualization.info reported on a Survey titled State of the VDI and SBC union hosted by Project Virtual Reality Check (VRC). The Survey has since then been filled in by more than 600 responders and now Project VRC has made the results available in a new paper titled: “State of the VDI and SBC union 2013“. VMware announces Network Virtualization platform NSX
In May last year, VMware acquired Nicira a company specialized in software defined networking (SDN) and network virtualization. Now VMware has announced that the Nicira NVP and VMware vCloud Network and Security (vCNS) will become one unified platform naming it VMware NSX.
VMware NSX exposes a complete suite of simplified logical networking elements and services including logical switches, routers, firewalls, load balancers, VPN, QoS, monitoring, and security; arranged in any topology with isolation and multi-tenancy through programmable APIs – deployed on top of any physical IP network fabric, resident with any compute hypervisor, connecting to any external network, and consumed by any cloud management platform (e.g. vCloud, OpenStack, CloudStack).
VMware Horizon View 5.2 Reviewer’s Guide
After the release of its end user computing suite named Horizon, VMware published the Horizon View 5.2 Evaluator’s Guide, the aim of the document is to allow users to find a support and learn how to install, configure and use VMware Horizon View 5.2 environment.
The Horizon Suite includes VMware Horizon Workspace, VMware Horizon View, and VMware Horizon Mirage.
Cisco releases beta of Nexus 1000V virtual switch for Microsoft Hyper-V
In September 2011 Cisco announced that it would extend support for its Nexus 1000V virtual switch in order to support the Microsoft Hyper-V hypervisor. Now Cisco has announced a public beta of the Nexus 1000V virtual switch for Hyper-V 3.0, part of Windows Server 2012. Also System Center 2012 Virtual Machine Manager is needed to use and manage the beta release.
