Release: Bromium vSentry 2.0

Bromium today released version 2.0 of its Security product based on the Xen hypervisor called vSentry. vSentry is a security product which uses a so called Microvisor which is a security-focused hypervisor that automatically, instantly and invisibly hardware-isolates each vulnerable Windows task in a micro-VM that cannot modify Windows or gain access to enterprise data or network infrastructure. Bromium vSentry 2.0 secures both 32- and 64 bit versions of Windows 7, and virtual desktops delivered with Microsoft Remote Desktop Services (including Citrix XenDesktop and VMware View). This version is the follow-up of version 1.1 which was released in December last year.

Open Beta: VMware vCenter Log Insight v1.0

We just noticed, thanks to a tweet by Eric Sloof, that VMware’s new product for log management and analysis, VMware vCenter Log Insight, is now available in an Open Beta program.

Delivered as a vApp, deployable with the standard OVF procedure, Log Insight collects and analyses syslog data from ESXi 4.1, 5.0, 5.1, vCenter Server Appliance and other arbitrary sources and can be integrated with vCenter Operations Manager to send notification and enable Launch in Context.

Survey: SMB Virtualization Data Protection Report 2013

Veeam has released its annual SMB Virtualization Data Protection Report. The reports is based on a survey held under 500 Small and Medium Businesses across the USA and Europe and explorers the impact of virtualization on SMBs’ data protection, backup and recovery strategies.

The outcome of the reports states that 85% of SMBs are experiencing cost-related challenges with backup and recovery, 83% with lack of capabilities and 80% with complexity.

Citrix announces VDI-in-a-Box 5.3

Citrix last week announced version 5.3 of its all-in-one Virtual Desktop Infrastructure solution VDI-in-a-Box. Version 5.3 will share technologies with XenDesktop 7, which was also announced recently. Version 5.3 will provide full Windows 8 support with HDX connections, personal desktops (PVD) on Windows 8, Single Sign-On for remote users through Citrix NetScaler/Access Gateway, and a new wizard-based SSL certificate installation and management.
