Citrix CEO Mark Templeton plans to retire

On July 28 Citrix disclosed that Mark Templeton, the company CEO, has plans to retire after over 20 years of service, an unexpected news that drew attention on the next future of the American company.

In his career in Citrix, Mark Templeton has been in charge as President and Chief Executive Officer since 2001. Templeton joined Citrix in 1995 as Vice President of Marketing, he was appointed president in 1998, while leading Citrix he managed to transform the company to become a “software-defined vendor” pushing forward virtualization, mobility management, networking and SaaS solutions.

VMware announces results for Q2 2015

VMware released the results about its results for Q2 2015.

VMware, announced a GAAP total revenue growth of $1.52 billion, for an increase of 4 percent compared to Q2 2014. License revenues were $638 million, with an increase of 4% from same quarter last year.

GAAP Operating income for the second quarter was $206 million, an increase of 3% from the second quarter of 2014.

The non-GAAP total revenues registered an increment of 10% from Q2 2014, with an income of $1.60 billion or up 13% year-over-year in constant currency.

Operating cash flows were $316 million for the second quarter of 2015.

Gartner releases its 2015 Magic Quadrant for x86 Server Virtualization Infrastructure

Gartner released its Magic Quadrant for x86 Server Virtualization Infrastructure for year 2015, once more positioning VMware and Microsoft in the leaders Quadrant.

No surprises in the leaders quadrant, as well as the other vendors appearing in the MQ. The only noticeable changes come after Parallels split into two distinct brands, Parallels and Odin focused on service providers, for hosting and cloud automation, Web management and cloud infrastructure.

Release: Parallels Mac Management 4.0 for Microsoft SCCM

Parallels announced the availability of Parallels Mac Management 4.0 for Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM), extending its range of capabilities to Mac computers.

This new release increases the flexibility to manage and maintain protected every Mac creating lightweight OS X images customizables via Microsoft SCCM, furthermore Parallels Mac Management gives IT administrators the possibility to bring together hardware and software inventory of all Mac machines on the network and will be available for purchase on July 24.

Avast Software Acquires Remotium

On July 8, Avast Software, a Czech private limited company provider of antivirus and security software products announced to have acquired Silicon Valley based Remotium, a company founded in 2012 and specialized in mobile virtualization solutions.

Start-up Remotium has been elected as most innovative company in 2013 at the RSA Conference Innovation Sandox award and it provides a Virtual Mobile Platform which creates virtual mobile devices streamed from corporate servers that act like a physical mobile device enabling safe and manageable access to enterprise applications from any mobile device.

Midokura expands OpenStack Team with Takashi Yamamoto

Network virtualization is one of the hot topics within the OpenStack community. Last week japanese startup Midokura focused on network virtualization announced the assignment of Takashi Yamamoto as OpenStack engineer.

Yamamoto is an expert of Linux kernel, virtualization and has worked on various open source software projects in the past. He joined the OpenStack Neutron core reviewer team after having worked as a cloud infrastructure expert at VA Linux Systems Japan where he was in charge of developing the OFAgent which uses the open source component-based SDN framework for implementation Ryu.
