In May Citrix released a technical preview of the next version of its Receiver software for Microsoft Windows and Apple Mac. Today Citrix released version 3.0 making it generally available. Receiver is the application which is installed on clients in order to access hosted applications and desktops. The Receiver will replace the Online Plug-in for Windows which is now embedded in Receiver.
Besides releasing new Receivers, Citrix also released XenClient 2.0, XenDesktop 5.5 and XenApp 6.5.
The new features for Windows 3.0 include:
- HDX enhancements
- Unified user experience, using the ONE icon in the systray providing notification, preferences, authentication, self-service access Windows, Web and SaaS applications.
- Improved Single Sign-On (SSO)
- Simplified Self-Service
The new features for Mac 11.4 include:
- Bi-directional audio
- One-Click Configuration, user click on a URL to automatically configure Receiver access to XenApp and XenDesktop resources
- Secure remote access
- Build in Self-Service, which allows users to search, subscribe and launch applications.
