Microsoft has released its Desktop Optimization Pack (MDOP) 2014 R2, which is available for Microsoft Customers with Software Assurance. The MDOP 2014 R2 is the follow up of the MDOP 2013 R2 which was released in December last year.
The Microsoft Desktop Optimization Pack contains the following technologies:
- User Experience Virtualization (UE-V)
- Application Virtualization (App-V)
- Microsoft Enterprise Desktop Virtualization (MED-V)
- Microsoft Bitlocker Administration and Monitoring (MBAM)
- Advanced Group Policy Management (AGPM)
- Diagnostics and Recovery Toolkit (DaRT)
Included in this version of the MDOP, are updates for App-V 5.0 (containing Service Pack 3) and User Experience Virtualization (UE-V) version 2.1.
App-V 5.0 Service Pack 3 contains the following new features and improvements:
- Connection group improvements
- Publishing control improvements
- App-V Server infrastructure updates
- Sequencing improvements
- Modifications to the integration between virtualized and non-virtualized local applications
- Streamlining of the deployment of Microsoft Office 2013 as described here
User Experience Virtualization version 2.1. contains the following new features and improvements:
- Support for Windows Credentials roaming
- Backup and Restore of settings
- Support for external settings storage, including OneDrive for Business
- Extensions for the already existing Office 2013 Support
