This week Citrix announced the upcoming 7.6 version of its Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) product XenDesktop and desktop and virtualization product XenApp.
XenApp product returned in version 7.5 since it was integrated in XenDesktop when version 7.1 was released. Both platforms are built upon the third-generation Flexcast Management Architecture (FMA) platform, and are designed to be deployed in on-premise or hybrid environments.
This new release will provide the usual performance enhancements with a special focus to the audio, video and graphics experience, the support for unified communications such as Lync Server 2013 and for generic redirection of USB 3.0 peripherals.
Among the other new features there is the ability to use commodity servers and RAM to drop the IOPS load on storage and the new Citrix Connector 7.5 for Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager.
Both products are expected to be available in September 2014.
