Midokura is a Japanese startup that released, back in 2013, MidoNet a network virtualization solution for OpenStack.
Yesterday, at OpenStack Summit in Paris, the company announced the decision to open source the core pieces of MidoNet making them freely available to the public under Apache 2.0 license.
This decision is intended to encourage user adoption and reflects the trend that sees Open Source as more and more central in vendors’ strategies.
Midokura’s plans include the development of enterprise grade products, including a management solution, based on this open source core that will be the center of newly created community.
