After the big announcement of the new CEO Satya Nadella, Microsoft appoints Corporate VP Scott Guthrie as Cloud Chief, taking over from Nadella the Cloud and Enterprise Group.
Guthrie, former leader of the Windows Azure team at Microsoft, joined the company in 1997 and since then he has been working as General Manager within the Developer Division of Microsoft and Corporate Vice President within the Developer Division at Microsoft, heading the teams who contributed to creation of the .NET Framework, Silverlight, ASP.NET, IIS, the XAML runtimes for Windows Phone and Windows 8 and tooling features within Visual Studio.
According to CNET that gave the news, Guthrie reported directly to Nadella, and his promotion was announced yesterday only internally. Guthrie, that until now has been known for his red polo shirt style when speaking in public and for being a blogger with the name of ScottGu, might not replace Nadella permanently but he is one of the possible best candidates.
