Release: NComputing vSpace Server 7.1 – Updated

NComputing last week announced the release of version 7.1 of its Remote Desktop Services (RDS) solution vSpace Server part of the vSpace Virtualization platform offering both hardware and software for RDS solutions. It can offer multi user applications on top of Windows Server, Windows MultiPoint Server and Ubuntu Linux and single user applications on top of Windows client. Version 7.1 is the follow up of version 7 which was released in March this year.

NComputing claims that its software and hardware solutions are used by more than 20 million users daily in 140 countries.

Within the vSpace Virtualization Platform suite NComputing offers the following software products:

  • vSpace Server which divides a computer’s resources into independent virtual workspaces that give each user their own rich PC experience. vSpace handles the desktop display and remote activities from the user’s keyboard and mouse (via the virtual desktop) providing up to 100 users simultaneous access to each instance of vSpace Server.
  • vSpace Client, which is an access client running on Windows which uses NComputing’s User eXtension Protocol (UXP)
  • vSpace Management Center, a web-based management tool for all network-connected thin client devices connected to vSpace Server

Besides the software above, NComputing also provides several Thin Clients, named L-Series, M-Series and X-Series. Note though that besides the NComputing software and hardware solutions customers still need to purchase a Microsoft Windows Server Client Access License (WS CAL) and a Microsoft Remote Desktop Services Client Access License (RDS CAL).
