VMware to release the beta of a vCenter Client for iPad next month

During the recent VMworld 2010 conference (read virtualization.info live coverage) VMware previewed a new vCenter Client for vSphere. This one is not for Windows or Linux but for the Apple iOS operating system, specifically tailored for the iPad tablet.

The product has been demonstrated on a YouTube video recorded by the VMworld TV staff:

The most interesting thing is that VMware designed the interface with the touch experience in mind, rather than trying to replicate the Windows interface on the iPad 9.7″ screen.
For this reason the app won’t support all features available on the vCenter Client for Windows, despite key features like Live Migration are there.

The beta should be available within one month, with a public launch at the VMworld Europe 2010 conference in Copenhagen, according to Duco Jaspars, while the GA version is expected within the end of the year as Srinivas Krishnamurti, Senior Director of Mobile Solutions, explains on video.
