After releasing beta 2 in October this year, Quest has now made available version 7.2 of its VDI connection broker solution: vWorkspace. This version is the follow-up of version 7.1 which was released in April this year.

Changes in this version:

  • Rebuild of the vWorkspace installer adding post-install configuration guidance, also providing a so called Quick Start Wizard providing three setup options.
  • Release of a vWorkspace PowerShell Module, which allow for automation using Windows PowerShell, Quest will be releasing in between updates for its PowerShell module from now on decoupling those releases from the vWorkspace product

  • Internet Explorer Redirection, which causes all IE browser content that is accessed on the server side (VM or TS) to be opened/played using the IE browser on the client physical desktop.
  • Smart Card USB Redirection, so that Smart cards can be redirected to a virtual desktop or RD Session Host session using USB Redirection. vWorkspace can be configured to autoexclude any USB device in the vWorkspace Virtual Hub Client window.
  • Support for VMware vSphere 4.1
  • vWorkspace Licensing, new licenses are only available from the Quest licensing management system, providing a ASC file which can be downloaded and added to the vWorkspace management console.
  • Enhanced Error Reporting, providing the option to search the Quest Support database directly.

  • Default Group Administrative Account, allowing administrators to enter a set of administrative credentials that are copied to new groups that are created for specified locations
  • Failover Mode, if a persistent computer is not available, failover mode provides a user with a free temporary VM from the same group.
  • Temporary Client Assignment; By setting the user assignment to Temporary and assigning the computer group by Device Name or Device Address on the Client Assignment settings of a computer group, you can allow more than one user to log into a VM using the same credentials.
  • EOP Xtream Configurable Timeout
